Moisture in the indoor hot tub can spoil the fun

An indoor hot tub is quite different from an outdoor hot tub where water is released into the air through evaporation. An indoor hot tub, so whether it's a luxury premium bathtub from Victoria & Albert or one from the hardware store, any indoor hot tub will absorb moisture and that's why you should talk through the environment of the spa in detail when planning hand in hand with us. If the climate is warm and humid, the risk of mold growth is very high and we recommend that you consider prophylactic protection during planning and cooperation. Also an important point is the technology of the indoor whirlpool, because not every manufacturer has the appropriate technology to guarantee longevity.

The classic misconception

In order to enjoy your new indoor hot tub to the fullest and even after a few whirl sessions, you should definitely have certain basics prepared. The assumption that all you need to do after whirling in the tub is air it out and then turn up the heat is classically, classically wrong. The condensation will settle on the ceiling, on your walls and windows, because the increased temperature allows the air to absorb more moisture than usual, and usual for spa areas is often 30 degrees Celsius. The following happens when the room is now ventilated. There is a certain dew point here which is also known from the refrigerator, if you take something from there and moisture forms on this object.

If you would now simply wait until the object has the same temperature as the room, the condensation, i.e. the humidity would be gone. This is exactly what happens with the indoor hot tub in its wellness oasis. Thus, the goal is that the room does not get cool spots, such as by ventilating the room.

What is desired in a wellness room with Indoor Jacuzzi®.

Due to the fact that the room temperature is relatively high, ceilings, walls should have the same temperature as the room itself, because if there are no cool surfaces and places, mold can not grow. So the wellness area should be in the basement, and we want a temperature of 29 degrees, it should not be anywhere colder than 26 degrees. So we would have to insulate here accordingly with thermal insulation panels and in such a way that the moisture cannot penetrate the insulation material. Subsequent insulation is a challenge in terms of construction because we can only insulate on the inside of the wall. The problem is the condensation that can not only move in on the surface of the insulation material but also there and then becomes damp and damp walls can hardly be used in a wellness paradise.

How easy and cost-effective to implement?

Our damp room in the basement - as in the example here - is subsequently insulated and this is done with an aluminum vapor barrier. The result is a prevention of diffusion of water to and into the masonry. The temperature remains so high that condensation will not find a way. The barrier must be aluminum, other films are inferior quality. Do not skimp on this procedure, even with partitions or the like. In the end, if your spa room is very large, you will have more work to do, or find another, smaller room for your indoor hot tub.

Safe in the saddle with the indoor hot tub

Follow this plan, also gladly together with us and you will have a lot of joy with your hot tub for inside. If you have a usual exterior insulation, please use 5 cm for the thermal insulation inside. If you already have damp walls, because moisture is pressing from the outside, thicker insulation walls should be used. Of course, the same applies to the ceiling. To give you a feel for what thickness to use, so it can be said that if you have no external insulation at all, 10cm should be chosen as the interior insulation.

Nothing forgotten, not even the windows

So that your hot tub also does not suffer any failure in its wellness paradise you should have windows and the frames just as appropriately insulated. You may have a metal frame or other cooler materials? These you can also temper on colder days, so that they yes no condensation. You are now well prepared. Of course, this can also be put into practice with a classic outdoor hot tub. However, you should take this into account structurally, because the outdoor whirlpools are often very large, larger than the doors allow. If you now after the Whirlgang once on draught and ventilate 10 minutes for fresh air is ideal. If this is not possible, you can also set a room dehumidifier or dehumidifier to 50-60 percent, which is ideal for a wellness area at about 28-31 degrees celsius.
